About the Owner and Author

Dr. Christie Oates is a licensed clinical psychologist.  She is a retired active-duty Air Force officer who lives in northern Virginia.  She earned her bachelor's degree in English and Psychology with a minor in secondary education from Fisk University where she pledged Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She earned her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. She is the proud mother of three children: Lawson, Julian and Solomon. Her fondest childhood memories are from living in Houston, Texas. So, she roots for all teams Texas! In addition to Texas, she has family ties in Montgomery, Alabama and Panama City, Florida.  She credits her late parents Barbara (Kitty) and Fred for her love of learning and writing.
